Rooted within the very core of The Garden Club of America purpose, the Horticulture Committee stimulates knowledge and a love of gardening by sponsoring lectures, demonstrations, meetings, and projects, and by disseminating horticultural information to GCA member clubs and the general public.

Among their many endeavors, the Horticulture Committee publishes the GCA’s The Real Dirt, an online newsletter for club members. The Horticulture Committee hosts the annual Shirley Meneice Horticulture Conference, which takes place at important botanical institutions and includes all clubs. In honor of The Garden Club of America’s Centennial, the Horticultural Committee announced the 2013 Centennial Tree Project to recognize the importance of trees in our past, present and future: they are basic to our survival, to the beauty of our landscapes, and to our history.
